Welcome to YWCA Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
At YWCA Peterborough Haliburton, our primary focus is on providing women and children escaping violence with a path to safety and the opportunity for a fresh start.
Every dollar raised at Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is invested in this work and your involvement as a walker, sponsor, donor or volunteer makes it all possible.
This year, more than 350 participants raised $126,812.51.
In the past year alone, the YWCA provided:
- 9,433 safe nights' sleep
- 26,331 meals at Crossroads Shelter
- Answers to 4,888 crisis calls
- The START program for 278 women (an 84% increase over last year)
While government support is essential, each year around 40% of our costs are not covered by government investment. Community support is essential in bridging this gap. Until the violence stops, neither can we.
We are excited to announce Team Mortlock Construction (Team MortWALK) was the top fundraising team, raising $10,565, and Jim Spence from Bryston is the top individual fundraiser with a total of $9,306. Details on a trophy presentation will follow this summer.
